Researchers at Finland’s Aalto University are building the world’s widest bandwidth radio astronomical receiver for the Metsähovi Radio Observatory, and the receiver will use Knowledge Resources’ KRM-4 module.

The new telescope will be used to study the composition of relativistic jets launched by supermassive black holes, among other things.

Knowledge Resources first introduced the KRM-4 in 2020. The module embeds AMD’s Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoCs in a versatile design, making it optimal for use in a multitude of applications. The Knowledge Resources team was happy to work with Aalto and AMD to support this research.
