Develop a front serviceable, video capable, scalable high resolution LED display solution


The small modules must contain all the logic an power management features required for a scalable system with minimal setup. Color matching between panels had to be ensured and aging effects needed to be considered


By greatly expanding the color depth in the processing system to 48 bit, even subtle brightness differences of the LED’s can be compensated in each tile. All the LED’s of a tile come from a binned batch to ensure a high level of homogenous brightness and wavelength characteristics. To do all the processing, LED driving and data forwarding, an FPGA plus a clever LED drive stages was deployed. The refresh rate of 600 Hz ensures that the LED tiles appear flicker free even when filmed with NTSC or PAL video cameras.
