Basel, Switzerland – Knowledge Resources GmbH, a leading Swiss FPGA SoM manufacturer, announced today the launch of the KRM-10S10RF, its first Altera-based RFSoC, now available for order entry.

The KRM-10S10RF is the first member of a growing family of high bandwidth RFSoMs leveraging the power of the Altera® Direct-RF family of devices. With its 64Gsps converters, it is capable of handling analog signals up to 32GHz. The module’s extensive FPGA fabric features 11520 multipliers and 244 Mbit of embedded memory, enabling the implementation of powerful DSP algorithms to match the massive converter bandwidth. 56 Gbit PAM-4 and 28 Gbit NRZ transceivers facilitate high data rate transfer to and from the FPGA, allowing the SoM to be deployed as a PCIe peripheral or network attached device. The quad core ARM A53 HPS subsystem with its dedicated DDR4 memory supports on-SoM control plane and data visualization applications. Dual 72-bit DDR4 memory banks enhance the FPGA fabric, making it suitable for sample buffering, real-time pattern storage for complex arbitrary signal generation, or extensive coefficient storage for edge AI implementations.

The KRM-10S10RF features:
• 8x RF ADC and DAC @ up to 64Gsps
• 24 H- & 24 E-tile transceivers
• 56 logic I/O
• Quad A53 HPS Subsystem
• 44 HPS I/O
• 4GB 40-bit DDR4 HPS RAM
• 2 X 8GB 72-bit DDR4 ECC RAM
• Single 12V supply
• BMC with system management interface
• Integrated heat spreader and thermal interface

Ideal for Sigint, radar, communications links, T&M, and instrumentation of physics experiments, the 120 x 90 mm module comes with an in-house designed thermal management solution and example designs, to quick start the customer’s design efforts.
Today’s product launch marks a significant milestone for Knowledge Resources as the company’s first commercial offering since achieving Gold tier membership in the Intel® Partner Alliance.

“The KRM-10S10RF is a testament to our engineering team’s ability to package complex, leading-edge technology into compact and robust SoMs. I am proud of our team’s accomplishments and am looking forward to expanding Knowledge Resources’ offering of Altera based high performance SoMs,” said Mike Stengle, Knowledge Resources CEO.

“Intel® Stratix® 10 AX FPGAs deliver up to 64 Gsps of RF sampling rate along with significant FPGA compute in a single multi-chip package,” said John Sotir, Senior Director, Military Aerospace and Government Business and State-of-the-Art Heterogeneous Integration Packaging (SHIP), of Altera, an Intel Company. “We started early with Knowledge Resources, a trusted collaborator, to enable faster delivery of their latest solution for SWAP critical applications in the defense space.”

Based in Basel, Switzerland since 2004, Knowledge Resources designs and manufactures a range of products for HPC, RF, and industrial applications.
